Day 1
Arrive in Urumqi
Activities:Warmly welcome you at Urumqi airport and transfer to your hotel
Our guide will pick you up from Urumqi airport and accompany you to your Hotel. For your first day in Xinjiang your time is on your own to explore as you will.
Urumqi is the capital city of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region of the people’s republic of China. It is located in the north – west of the country. Urumqi was a major hub on the Silk Road during China’s Tang dynasty, and developed its reputation as a leading cultural and commercial center during the Qing dynasty. Literal translation of Urumqi means “beautiful pasture” in Mongolian language. It is the largest city in China’s western interior. Since the 1990s Urumqi has developed economically and now serves as a regional transport hub, cultural, and commercial center.
Day 2
Urumqi to Heavenly Lake
Meals: B, L, D
Activities:Visit Xinjiang Provincial Museum and drive to Heavenly lake; hike around the lake and stay overnight in local Kazak Yurt
After breakfast visit Xinjiang regional museum to see archeological treasures from the Silk Road and Xinjiang’s minority cultures. Displays some well-preserved 3000 years old mummies excavated from Loulan– a TaklaMakan desert.
After lunch Leave for Heavenly Lake which is 115 kms (71 Miles) over two hours by vehicle. This beautiful and crystal-clear waters of Heavenly Lake is guarded by the Tianshan mountains.
Once you are at the lake, you will have free time to roam around the lake, simply trekking up the mountains through the various valleys, go boating or take cable car (own expense)up to the top of the mountain for full scenery of the lake for whole day and spend the night at a local Kazak family yurt by the lake.
Day 3
Heavenly Lake to Turapn
Meals: B, L, D
Activities:After breakfast at a local Kazak Yurt, spend a few hours around lake and then drive to Turapn
As not many tourists spend a night at the lake, it is quiet and not touristy in the morning.you can enjoy the beautiful early morning sunshine as well.
After local Kazak breakfast at the yurt, you will have chance to hike around the lake for a few hours before the lake gets crowded.
Whenever you are ready, drive to Turpan which takes around 4 hours.Once you arrive in Turpan check into your Hotel.
Optional: you can walk around night market of Turpan.
Day 4
Turpan for the whole day

Activities:visit Idikut (Gaochang) ancient city, Astana tombs, Toyuq village, Bizeklik Thousand Buddha caves and Flaming Mountain
After breakfast We start our exciting day in Turpan with a visit to the ancient city of Idikut (Gaochang). The city was first built in the first Century BC and later became capital of the Idikut (Gaochang) Uighur Kingdom in the 8th Century. We’ll enjoy seeing the ancient city for about one hour and then drive to Karakhoja Astana tombs, a Tang-Dynasty Royal burial ground which is also known as the “Underground Museum”. Astana means “capital” in Uighur language and Karakhoja is the name of a legendary hero of an ancient Uighur Kingdom who freed his people by killing a vicious dragon.
Move on to Toyuq village, an old, beautiful and timeless village with a friendly Uighur community. Here we visit several local families and have lunch with a local family at their home. This could be the highlight of your tour of the day.
After lunch we visit Bizeklik Thousand Buddha caves which used to be an important center for Buddhist worshipers under the Xizhou Huigu government of the Idikut (Gaochang) Kingdom.
On the way back to the hotel we will stop at the Flaming Mountain which people claimed hottiest and driest along the silk road that “flying birds even a thousand miles away dare not to come”
Day 5
Turpan to Dunhuang

Activities:visit Yargul (Jiaohe) Ancient city, Emin Minaret, Tuyuq village then take overnight train to Dunhuang
Following breakfast at the Hotel we start our another wonderful day in Turpan. Our special itinerary today includes sightseeing in Turpan and then take overnight soft sleeper train to Dunhuang
First we visit Yargul (Jiaohe) Ancient city which is one of the best preserved ancient cities in China. The ruins of the buildings are divided into temples, civilian dwellings and government offices. Workshops and residential houses are still visible and time there is a time spent in a long disappeared world. After an hour of visiting around the ancient city, we’ll head to see the world famous Karez irrigation system, unique to this part of the world. The system is considered as one of the three great projects in China with the other two being the Great Wall and the Grand Canal.
Then visit the Emin Suliman minaret which is a magnificent combination of Uighur and Islamic architecture. It is the tallest ancient tower in Xinjiang and the only Islamic ancient minaret in the country. Locals call it “pure tower.”
Later in the afternoon drive to Daheyan train station for overnight first class soft sleeper train to Dunhuang. the train journey is about 10 hours.

This Tour includes one way train Journey from Turpan to Dunhuang which is about 9-10 hours. We book first class soft sleeper tickets, there are 4 beds in one compartment, this tour includes one ticket per person. so if you are less than 4 people and want to get all 4 beds, you have to pay for the rest of beds then you can stay privately without any other strangers. please let us know when you make booking.
Day 6
Dunhuang for whole day

Activities:Arrive at Dunhuang train station in the morning and visit Mogao Grottoes, Museum, Crescent Lake and Mingsha Echo-sand Mountain
Our Dunhuang local guide will be holding your name in front of the Dunhuang train station and first have breakfast and then go for sight-seeing.
We spend the whole morning at Mogao Grottoes which were constructed over a millennium ago, from the 4th to 14th centuries. The caves are also known as the Thousand Buddha Caves with two distinctions of being one of the most notable grottoes in China as well as the best-preserved treasure house of Buddhist arts, sutras, murals and sculptures in the world.
After lunch visit Dunhuang Museum which exhibits relics excavated from the local area, such as paper, coins, a model of the Great Wall as it appeared during the Han Dynasty.
Then drive to Mysterious Crescent lake which it’s name derives from the crescent moon shaped by the small pool of spring water between two large sand dunes. Here you’ll have chance to ride camels over the sand dunes of Sounding Sand mountain which makes sounds when the wind blows.
We highly recommend you to stay till Sunset over the high sand dunes before going back to hotel
Day 7
Dunhuang to Xi’an

Activities:Take morning flight to Xi’an and visit Xi’an city wall
Our guide and driver from Dunhuang see you off at Dunhuang Airport and another Knowledgeable and friendly local guide will meet you with experienced driver at Xi’an airport and drive you to Xi’an city which takes about 1.5 hours.
First have lunch and then drive to Xi’an city wall which is the symbol of Xi’an and the most ancient existing city wall in China until today. We spend a few hours to enjoy by walking around or riding bicycles as your wish.
Day 8
Explore Xi’an for whole day

Activities:Visit Terra-Cotta Warriors; Wild Goose Pagoda and Hui Mosque
After breakfast we start our another wonderful day tour by visiting Terra-Cotta Warriors which is one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. This site is about an hour drive from Xi’an city.
After lunch we continue our tour to wild goose Pagoda which is a well preserved ancient holy building for Buddhism.
Finally visit Hui grand mosque located in Hui minority area, construction of the mosque has rich Chinese features combined with Arabic style. It is one of the oldest and largest mosque in China.
Day 9
Xi’an to your Next destination
